Goldfish Theme Baby Shower

Design Inspiration

Goldfish: Blue (Turquoise), Orange, and White.

Project Details

Theme:  Goldfish, Blue (Turquoise) - Orange - White.

Decor:  Invtiations made using cardstock from www.paper-source.com, and Goldfish cutout using Critcut 'Boys Will Be Boys' cartridge.  Added black rhinestone for the eye.  Later throughout the decor for Banner & Cupcake toppers we added a googly eye to match the other party decor.  Paper lanterns purchased from www.hobbylobby.com and they had a coupon online available.   Centerpieces were goldfish in fish bowl from dollar store with clear blue rocks and coordinating ribbon around the bowl.  Utensils were placed in clear short square vase wrapped with coordinating ribbon around the vase.  Balloons, Paper Plates, Napkins, Thank You cards & Stickers were purchased from: http://www.celebrateexpress.com/browse/_/N-/Ntt-Goldfish/results1.aspx

Cost saving tip:  I used free shipping from Shoprunner.com and was able to  use 15% off total order that came with a previous order I had placed.  You can also find % off by searching discount codes on the internet.

Food:  Water bottle printables-Free, found on: http://www.bumpsmitten.com/2011/03/diy-shower-water-bottle-labels-free.html  wrapped with clear packing tape to water proof, and tea/soda cans.  Snacks were Pita Chips, Wavy Chips & Dip, Vege Tray, and Chex Mix with added Pepperidge Farms goldfish crackers.  Lunch served was a sandwhich spread using Pepperidge Farms goldfish shaped bread, however, not sold in stores or online, west of the Mississippi due to product freshness/shelf life, so I had a friend in Missouri ship to me.  Meat & Cheese tray from Costco for the sandwhiches.  Salads- Broccoli, Bacon Ranch Pasta, and Chinese Chicken Salads and Fresh Fruit Tray with whipcream dip. 

Desert:  Cupcakes- frosting was purchased from local supermarket bakery-Albertsons- they dyed the Buttercream frosting to match our theme.  Sweet goldfish crackers placed into fish bowls from Pepperidge Farms- Vanilla Cupcake, Graham Cracker, Chocolate Chip & Fudge Brownie.  Cakepops- Pinterest inspired design, made by B's Treats:  Facebook page-  http://www.facebook.com/#!/BsTreats.

Advice

You can keep the party simple but by focusing on little details, you have a bigger impact on the overall design of the party.  Get creative by visiting your local dollar store, craft store, and what you have around the house, before spending a ton of money at the 'Party Store'.   I try to use coupons from craft stores or searching online for discount codes, before paying full price for any of the decor.
