Girly nautical 2nd birthday party

Description

I wanted to create unique, modern and simple decorations for my daughter's birthday party. It was a small party with only 3 of her friends and few of our close friends and family. I did not want to invest much on the decoration and I did not want to do a character themed party, but still keep it fun and girly.

Design Inspiration

My inspiration was the set of papers and elements from Paislee Press (this one is called Daydreamer). The first thing I did was the invitations (one for her actual party and another one for a little celebration we did at her pre-school).

Decorating Style

Clear, modern, simple and on a budget.

Project Details

The set of digital papers and elements from Pailee Press was only about $6 http://paisleepress.com/2012/03/daydreamer/

I did the invitations, flags, cupcake and cake toppers, double sided papers and tags on my computer and then printed them on thicker paper at a local digital printer shop. All the prints were about $12.

To do the star I followed a tutorial I had on my Pinterest. http://pinterest.com/pin/258464466084042801/

For the cake, I wanted something that would mainly be delicious, so I ordered from a local baker and gave her this design as an inspiration. She made a chocolate and strawberries cake with strawberries and cheese frosting (no artificial colors added). pinterest.com/pin/258464466084042801/

Instead of trying to match everything and focused on getting really good deserts. The hit of the party were the cookie-caramel-chocolate bars with a hit of salt crystals from another small local bakery!

Favorite Items

My favorite item was the flag banner on the celling. I love the colors and it was so easy to make.

Advice

The party is about your child feeling loved. Take a few small projects and plan them with some time. There are so many tutorials and inspiration to do things yourself, you do not have to spend a lot of money and go crazy on party activities to treat you little one and your guests, just choose carefully.

I must say that this is the first nautical party that I've seen for a baby girl. She looked like she had a blast!
