Gianna’s Vintage Glam Nursery

Description

This is the nursery I created for my daughter.  We moved into our new house 1 week before I was due.  All I had time to do was have it painted, put the furniture in and add a few things on the wall, but it wasn't the way I had envisioned it when she arrived. Over time, took almost 1 year, managed to finally complete it.

Design Inspiration

Robert Best Barbie Prints, French, Shabby Chic, Vintage rooms and the many rooms I've searched and gotten inspiration from.

Decorating Style

I would say a mix of Vintage/Shabby Chic with some Contemporary updates and a touch of Glam, but I'm not a designer so I'm not sure?! :)  Please let me know I'm still trying to figure it out.

Favorite Items

This is a hard one. I have lots.  Probably the Barbie Prints.  My best friend had them in her bedroom years ago, at least 5 years ago I would say.  And when I saw them, I told her that if I had a girl someday that I would decorate her room in barbie prints.  And I did!  But what I love most are all of the homemade things: her blessing dress made by her great-grandmother, the baby bumpers and pillows made by my mom, her quilt made by my mother-in-law, the painting made by sister.  I could go on and on, the women in her life have their hand prints all over the room.  One more favorite would have to be my baby bonnet displayed.  It is worn but still in great condition.  We just got her 1 year pictures done of her in the same bonnet.   It's so special.

Advice

I would say take your time.  Look at lots of examples of what you like.  Don't be afraid to take some ideas from rooms that you see (that's what sights like these are for).  And also remember to be adventurous and try something or come up with ideas all your own, that you can be proud of !  It takes a lot of time, effort and love to make a nursery that you and your baby will be happy with :)

Ana,

Hi Ana! Thanks so much! The pink quilt is actually just 1 or 2 yard of fabric (I can't remember now) from Hobby Lobby. You can go online and buy it if you don't have a store nearby. I just folded the sides when placing it over the crib. My mother in law did make a quilt with it too and she said the fabric is a little tricky to work with. But it's beautiful fabric so I think it's worth it :)
