Gavin’s Yellow and Teal Turtle’s Nest

Description

Sunny yellow and teal nursery

Design Inspiration

We decided to wait to find out the gender of our baby so a gender neutral nursery was important. A lot of the gender neutral nursery gear, however, was color neutral, too. I wanted something fun and bright and the color yellow fit the bill. I used to work in marine biology and my husband was born in Hawaii. The green sea turtle wall decal that I designed and had fabricated brought these two dichotomous histories together in a fun and colorful way.

Decorating Style

Modern, rustic, eclectic

Project Details

We put a lot of effort into our nursery: from the thermal-lined curtains that I sewed to the refinished dresser for the changing table to the creation of the sea turtle wall decal. I wish we could have ripped out the carpet and painted the walls, but we rent so we opted to add color through the linens and artwork.

Definitely the sea turtle wall decal but I'm also very proud of my DIY crib sheet.

Advice

If you can't find what you're looking for, find the fabric you like and a seamstress to make it for you (or do it yourself!).

The yellows in this room would make people cheery and would give them a happier disposition. The curtains are really gorgeous!
