We were SO excited for the arrival of our little man! The "theme" is vintage airplanes/blueprints. A special thanks to all of the friends and family who got us such beautiful gifts to help put our perfect little room together...couldn't have done it without them!
The vintage aviation theme was inspired by some very old airplane blueprints of my Dad's that we came across in storage a couple of years ago...these are now framed on the nursery wall!
Pretty traditional...With a hint of vintage prep!
After realizing that we wanted the aviation blueprint theme, we could NOT believe that Restoration Hardware Baby & Child actually came out with crib bedding in "Vintage Airplane Blueprint"! It was meant to be! So we used the duvet cover, crib sheet and canvas totes with this design. Our little guy also loves the Vintage Aviation Mobile from RHbabyandchild.com. We also used Pottery Barn Kids for our rug and additional polk-a-dot crib sheets. Our glider is from Target and we love it. The furniture was another wonderful surprise as we bought it sight unseen from JCpenney...we were nervous, but wanted a smart price on a set that we didn't have to build anything on! We were SO pleased...this furniture is beautiful, high quality, hardwood. Perfect! Cordless window shades are from Bed Bath & Beyond. It was also fun to incorporate some pieces from my childhood...the little rocking chair and toy were mine growing up!
Of course the blueprints mean so much to us, so they are the favorite, hands down. However, I also love the rustic wood and burlap wall hangings with the list of "Boy Things To Do" and scripture.
It's important to remember that not EVERYTHING in the room has to be associated with your theme (in this case airplanes). For example: Sure, that aviation themed rug would have been adorable but the simple navy one that we decided on provides a great base for the rest of the details in the room.
I so love the airplane mobile. And those aircraft diagrams are kinda neat!
