We were called to design a modern nursery for a baby girl and the design starting points were an orange monkey wallpaper and a see through crib. This is all we had to completely transform a guests bedroom into a sweet and fun nest.
We used this fun and whimsical
monkey wall paper as a our point of departure. We wanted to create a modern, fun yet still elegant nursery. The challenge was to not let the orange become too overwhelming, so neutral blinds and painting some of the walls – not fully wall papering the room – restrained the colors and patterns from becoming too dominant and created a calm space for the baby girl.
Modern and elegant.
We chose very modern furniture and decor. Our client wanted to have the
transparent Roh crib by Spot on Square so we added the
Monte Design rectilinear glider combined with more playful elements such as the
monkey rug therefore welcoming the new little one into the world with fun, laugher and love. The animal theme is woven subtly into the room with
a fun giraffe lamp and on the walls
funky collage art found from a young artist in Spain that interprets traditional nursery subject matter in innovative mediums and modern.
We are particularly fond of the
tree bookcase and the
abstract mobile both able to create an airy, delicate and youthful feel.

Funny how I was watching reruns of Gossip Girl, and in the early episodes of Season 4, they showed this nursery with the same monkey wallpaper. I thought it was really adorable! And now, I see this wallpaper again. This must be a sign!
