Foxy First Birthday

Description

Foxes, raccoons, and trees with bright cheery colors were perfect for celebrating our baby's first birthday! His nursery is woodland inspired, so I stuck with that theme for his party and went to work DIYing almost everything. It turned out adorable with tons of fun little details.

Project Details

A one-year-old doesn't need anything grand in a party, so I fully admit that the planning and details of the party were for my own pleasure. I had too much fun dreaming, planning, shopping, and crafting for this party. His room is woodland inspired, so I stuck with that and went to town. I designed a simple fox & woodgrain invite and used the fox design and the colors throughout the party. I even painted the fox I designed onto a shirt for the birthday boy. I made masks for all of the kiddos- they could pick from a fox, deer, owl, raccoon, and skunk.

The florist from my wedding took me to a floral market where I got to dream up and pick from rooms and rooms of beautiful flowers! I built and stained some wooden planter boxes and my mom played florist on party day and executed my vision perfectly! I designed the wood "1" toppers and my dad cut them on his laser wood cutter at work. We used wood slices and large tree stumps throughout.

We played a slideshow of pictures from his first year of life. So fun to reminisce on all of his sweet moments. We had lunch catered which meant that all I had to do was the fun stuff- making the rest of it look cute.

We had a coloring table & chalkboard with woodland stickers outside. We also had a woodland trees ring toss game for the bigs (I also designed them and had my dad cut them on his laser wood cutter,) and a ball pit that was a hit with the babies.

After eating and playing, it was time for the big moment- the cake smash! I made a little fox face cake for the little Mr. We also had a chocolate tree stump cake for the adults, and orange flavored cupcakes for the littles.

We send our guests home with goodie bags filled with more woodland creature stickers and forrest bears (gummy bears!)

Favorite Items

I loved the floral for the party, it really brought the nature feel to the party. My other favorite items was all of the laser cut wood designs- the cake topper, the ring toss trees, and the "1" floral inserts.

Advice

This party was a labor of love. Almost everything was a DIY project. Choose fun colors and woodsy elements like wood grain, bark, moss, and the adorable woodland creatures!
