Flowers and Moon Nursery for Sophie

Description

This is a nursery for our 1st sweet baby Sophie designed by my wife; I helped to make it a reality.  We wanted a room that anyone would know was for a girl but not the typical pink.  Soft yellows and orange accents were used throughout the room.  The chair was the inspiration for the room.  Many of the items you see were found in Thrift Stores.

Design Inspiration

A platform rocker that we found in a Salvation Army was the inspiration for the room.  It was recovered with a fabric we found in a discount store.  The chair was purchased several years ago while we were struggling to conceive.

Decorating Style

Cottage style.

Project Details

The crib and changing table have been supplied by a family member.  Paint for the room was purchased at Lowes and is Valspar.  All trim and wainscoting materials also have been purchased at Lowes.  The chair, ottoman, lamps, tables, and light fixture are all from Thrift Stores and none of them looked like this when purchased.

Favorite Items

The canopy over the crib.  This was a plain canopy purchased from IKEA.  This was a plain white canopy that I was against from the time it hit our shopping cart.  My wife told me not to worry and that I would love it when she was complete; she was right.  She did all of the embellishments with a glue gun and items purchased from multpile craft stores.

Advice

Have a great deal of patience.  Do not jump into anything like this thinking you can do it in a weekend.  There are many hours put into this room worked on off and on between working for over 3 months.  It was hard but so worth it knowing how much we already LOVE the little girl we've been blessed to receive.

I agree with what Julie said. This room is truly unique. The colors you used have that cottage-y effect.
