Evyn’s Colorful Cottage Nursery

Description

Evyn's nursery began with a white base of furniture and walls.  I layered in bright colors and pops of black to create the colorful cottage style.

Design Inspiration

I gathered lots of ideas online and in boutiques in Atlanta.  The idea of black trim came from a store called Urban Cottage.  I knew I wanted to use individual pieces that looked collected over time instead of buying a matching nursery set.

Decorating Style

My style is casual, colorful and eclectic.

Favorite Items

It's hard to choose my favorite item.  I love the punch that the rug brings to the room.  I also think the changing table was such a great find.  It's the perfect size and style and I know I'll be able to use it in other ways, or places in out house, when we are finished with the diaper stage.  The chair is so great to have too!  I think it will also transition well to another room someday.

Advice

Take your time in gathering the perfect items.  Evyn is nine months and I'm just now calling it done, but I've enjoyed the process of putting her room together since before she was born.

Could I call this room modern with a vintage twist? Because I am a true lover of that idea! Nice color combos, too! There are to many things to say about this room! I will just shut up and enjoy gazing at it! :)

Where did you find the super cute and colorful bird fabric for the bedding and window panels?

The clever mixture of compatible colors and tones makes the room fresh. The elements selected can remain in use for many years to come whether they are used in a nursery again or not. Good job, Alyson!
