Evyn's nursery began with a white base of furniture and walls. I layered in bright colors and pops of black to create the colorful cottage style.
I gathered lots of ideas online and in boutiques in Atlanta. The idea of black trim came from a store called Urban Cottage. I knew I wanted to use individual pieces that looked collected over time instead of buying a matching nursery set.
My style is casual, colorful and eclectic.
I was luck to have all of the big items in the room given to me (actually to Evyn) by Evyn's grandparents and great grandparent.
Crib- Restoration Hardware:
Changing table- I got at an antique market in town
Dresser- It was my dad's childhood dresser, painted white.
Rocker- Rowe Furniture:
Owl Bookends- Zgallerie:
Lamp- A hand-me-down from a friend. I added the orange rick rack with hot glue.
Name Print- Etsy, Almost Sunday:
I got most of the frames and other nick nacks at Homegoods.
The mobile and some of the items on the shelves were handmade for Evyn by my friends.
Bedding- Etsy, Fingers and Toes:
Photos taken by Duke Photo Boutique.
It's hard to choose my favorite item. I love the punch that the rug brings to the room. I also think the changing table was such a great find. It's the perfect size and style and I know I'll be able to use it in other ways, or places in out house, when we are finished with the diaper stage. The chair is so great to have too! I think it will also transition well to another room someday.
Take your time in gathering the perfect items. Evyn is nine months and I'm just now calling it done, but I've enjoyed the process of putting her room together since before she was born.
