Description
Since we didn't find out the gender of our baby before he was born, we needed a unisex theme. Also, the nursery is quite small so we tried to keep it very light and bright to give the appearance of more space. Overall, we wanted a nursery that was fun and cheery but still functional and with lots of storage. We're loving how it turned out and Evan seems to enjoy it too!
Design Inspiration
Stuffed elephant, giraffe and lion that we purchased early in the pregnancy; tons of hours spent pouring over design blogs; bright colors
Decorating Style
Modern traditional with lots of color
Project Details
Furniture: crib, dresser and changing table topper - Marlowe collection from restoration hardware baby; rocking chair and ottoman - restoration hardware baby
Wall decals: Dwell Studio (DIY tip: I used a laser level and painter's tape to mark a line all around the room and then applied the decals just above the tape)
Bedding: Serena and Lily Nursery Basics in Sprout and Spring Green Florentine Crib Sheets; Quilt - custom made by my mom! (DIY tip: I purchased extra crib sheets rather than fabric by the yard from Serena and Lily because it was less expensive. We used the material from the sheets to make changing pad covers, curtain ties, storage baskets in the closet and the backing on the quilt. We ordered a changing pad cover on sale from restoration hardware baby and took it apart to create a pattern)
Storage: fabric bins sewn by my mom using the same fabrics as the sheets and the quilt. The pattern for the bins and the tags on the bins were both from Etsy, here: http://www.etsy.com/listing/91500042/easy-to-sew-fabric-bin-pdf-sewing?ga_search_query=fabric%2Bbin&ga_search_type=user_shop_ttt_id_5820542 and here: http://www.etsy.com/listing/76851553/charlotte-frame-appliques-machine?ga_search_query=charlotte&ga_search_type=user_shop_ttt_id_5866996. We used an embroidery machine to make the tags and then attached them to the bins with velcro so that we could switch them around, as needed.

Very cute. Love the quilt, fabric bins, fabric animals and watercolors. Your mom is great with a sewing machine!
