Emma’s Room

Description

We wanted to create a room for our new baby that would be calming and pleasant to be in.

Design Inspiration

a combination of wall decals we saw online and wanting to tone down the pink already in the room.

Decorating Style

simple and uncluttered, pleasant.

Project Details

The room was all pink (too pink!). We wanted to apply wall decals to create a forest look, but the decals are so expensive! So, we decided to create a gray accent wall and mask out the design of trees and birds. We added gray curtains (fabric purchased at the store, created curtains using iron-on seam), and done! Graco crib from target (was on sale) and a matching changing table we found on craigslist.

Favorite Items

the bird on a branch on an adjacent wall, mirroring the bird on the accent wall.

Advice

this was very inexpensive. One quart of paint ($10), 6 yards of fabric ($40), iron-on seam ($5), masking tape ($5), paint roller and such ($10), used changing table ($40) and brand new crib and mattress on sale ($200), we already had the curtain rod form ikea ($15). On top of that, very little work! Only one wall needs to be masked and painted, and the iron-on seam on the curtains take seconds to do! The gray wall provides more neutrality to the room, so that other colors can be a part of the room without clashing.

Nice decals, but the room seems a little bare. Are you going to add a rug or a rocking chair?

I love the earthy colors you used. Very calming and soothing to the eyes. Your storage boxes are nice, too.

I agree, the simple contrast in this room is great. I really like the grey and pink and the bows on the curtains, I am a sucker for bows

My cat jumps into the crib too if I don't have the bumper in there, lol.

I love the contrast between the walls and the large decal. Very cute!
