Eloise’s Neutral Safari Nursery

Description

When I started designing this neutral safari nursery, I knew that I wanted to create a calm & comfortable space that was child-friendly but also a place where my husband & I would feel comfortable (read: I didn't want it to look like a pre-school). One of my first big decisions was to keep the walls white & to add pops of color on the ceiling, in the rug & in other accessories (mobile, changing pad, etc.). I slowly curated the pieces for this space thru-out my pregnancy & was thrilled with the outcome - a perfect space for our daughter!

Design Inspiration

The Animal Print Shop Little Darlings prints (which are hanging above Eloise's dresser/changing table). I saw them long before I was pregnant & decided right then that I could create an amazing safari-themed nursery which would perfectly fit with my aesthetic & could be appropriate for a boy or girl (since we kept the gender a surprise!).

Decorating Style

Classic, clean, & sophisticated.

Favorite Items

The balloon mobile is my favorite piece in the nursery. I went back & forth about how I might make or buy one, but then I found a great pattern on Etsy. It was such a fun project to make & Eloise adores it! I also am really happy with our glider. It was a big ticket item which was a gift from my parents & I am so thankful for a comfy place to nurse & rock Eloise.

Advice

Choose one or two focal points - I chose the zebra print rug & the striped ceiling - & keep everything else neutral. Focus on using items that can grow with your child. And trust your gut - I had a designer tell me to avoid stripes on the ceiling with the zebra print rug & I am so glad I trusted myself with this decision!
