Elena’s Mint and Pink Nursery

Description

I wanted something soft, classic and neutral that would eventually transition to Elena's big girl bedroom.  Initially I had painted her walls a medium gray with aqua, light pink and dark pink accents.  As time went on I grew to dislike the gray walls more and more.  My husband kept telling me that it needed to be something softer, more feminine (this coming from a guys guy!).  I chose a soft mint color for the walls and added in gold, white and pink accents.  I transferred the decor and furniture that wasn't used in the new design to her playroom.  Not only does my husband love the transformation, but Elena does too!

Design Inspiration

I enjoy browsing Pinterest, Project Nursery, Instagram and other children's interior design blogs for ideas.  I love children's rooms that are comfortable and practical.

Decorating Style

Simple and classic.  I try not to get too trendy as the hubby isn't as keen on changing design pieces out so often!

Other Items:  The gold painted mason jars and paper chandelier mobile came from Etsy.  Love that site!  The elephant figurines were a gift from Elena's Papa.  The star cushion on the glider is from an online company call Essi and Co. in Australia.  Such cute things and the shop owner is awesome!  The yellow blanket on the glider was made by my mom.  The cloud pillow, believe it or not, was found at Hallmark for $11!  The two dolls on the glider are called Sweet Dreams Dolls and were purchased from an online children's store called Growing Footprints.

Favorite Items

My favorite items in the room would be the elephant figurines from Elena's Papa, the yellow blanket that my mom made and the picture of us with Elena's birth parents.  All of those items are very special to me and my husband.

Advice

Don't be afraid to change something if you decide it didn't work the way you wanted it to.

Hi Nicole, the circle dot chandelier mobile is from an Etsy store called Little Drops of Sun. I ordered it custom but I believe she now has it listed in her shop.

Aw, thank you Courtney! Yep, White Mint from SW. I didn't alter it but I also didn't prime the walls. I painted over a medium gray color which gave it a little more depth probably. Although I did paint 3 coats of the White Mint over it. Some days it looks very light and others you can definitely see the mint. Elena's room gets full afternoon sun though. Hope that helps!

I love what you did in this room!! Did you alter the paint at all? This color looks much more white in my room but I do have less light coming in. Sherwin Williams white mint right?
