Eclectic Sweet Neutral Nursery

Design Inspiration

My client wanted soft but eclectic neutral. Meaning a balance between traditional nursery and updated accents of eclectic. A mix of sweet soft blues and creams in the traditional polka dot window treatments offset by accents of Ikat and contemporary ochre.

Project Details

This room had to be able to work for next baby as well. So neutral was the design scope. The owner is an artist so she wanted to incorporate a color theme from some of her paintings that would be placed in the nursery. She also wanted to keep the room sweet and soft. The room takes on the individual in that there is no one set style. Contemporary, Bohemian and Traditional style all balances perfectly to create a soothing yet playful place for baby to grow.

Favorite Items

The Ikat ottoman for its playful balance in the nursery. It serves as the perfect "pop" of color.

Advice

Keep all your large furniture items such as the crib, changing table and other bookcases all the same color. It helps to have the larger pieces all one color to "ground" the room. Add accents of color and pattern in the accessory pieces such as ottomans. lampshades and rugs. For window treatments, select fabric that will take your room through the ages. Shades to grow with and room for change.
