Description
A bright, musical, gender neutral, modern nursery in the city of New Orleans, LA.
Design Inspiration
Joey's love for music and my love for pops of color/art. When my husband learned a Jake Shimabukuro song on his ukulele just for the baby, I was inspired to frame the sheet music along with other musically inclined pieces. We live in New Orleans, where music flows through your veins so it was really exciting to infuse this culture into the nursery.
Decorating Style
I really wanted to stay away from over the top baby themes, and instead wanted the nursery to be an extension of our urban, colorful apartment. Clean lines, bright, and modern. I used books, artwork, and fabrics to incorporate color. I am also a big believer that house plants warm a space, so a trip to the local nursery was well worth it.

The frame with Paul McCartney's "Calico Skies" lyrics. It was the song we danced to at our wedding and the words are perfect for a baby coming into the world.
Advice
Process of elimination! We used http://babyli.st/ for our registry and ended up creating an extra registry just for the nursery. I was able to add pieces from any website- Etsy, Nordstrom, Ikea, etc. then slowly edit it down to what worked well together. Take your time and remember it is possible to do a gender neutral nursery!
