Dainty, Soft and Sweet Nursery

Description

When we found out we were expecting a little girl, I knew exactly what I envisioned for the sweet nursery. All things soft, elegant, and feminine. I wanted the room to make you feel at ease the second you walked in. I also wanted sophistication, but with hints of little girl coming through in the details.

Design Inspiration

Being a lover of neutrals, I knew the nursery would follow suit. Robin's Egg Blue has always been my favorite color so when I began scheming up the design it started around that color. I knew I wanted soft colors, gentle textures, and a bit of a vintage feel. While pondering my design, I came across a Dash and Albert floral rug that was blue with a soft pink rose detail on it... This made me love the idea of bringing in the rose color through my accessories. I immediately started making an inspiration board focusing on my color palate of Robin's Egg Blue, Rose Pink, Greige and White.

Decorating Style

I have always been drawn to a soft color palate. The moment you walk into our home you are greeted by bright whites, soft blues, and warm grays. It immediately makes me feel relaxed and refreshed... a feeling I hope all my guests feel when they come over! When decorating I like everything to work together so I look for pieces that are neutral, not too busy, and have a unique texture or oldness about them. I love how I might find the perfect living room piece that compliments a piece you might see elsewhere in the house.

Favorite Items

My favorite items would have to be the custom chandelier using the pearls from our wedding, the photograph of my husband and I holding the baby shoes-- this is how we announced our pregnancy, the glider because it is so comfortable, and the bedding! Oh gosh, I'll stop with that, but I really do love everything!!

Advice

Start with an inspiration board. It doesn't have to be as fancy as "inspiration board" sounds... Just collect your ideas. Find a few key pieces such as a rug, or bedding and start working from that. Add elements to the board that show colors, themes, or ideas you love and keep it in mind as a guide while shopping. Also, don't be afraid of white bedding... it is machine washable and bleach-able! Most of all create a space that is special to you in some way or another and enjoy every moment making memories in that room with your little one... That's what I plan to do in just a few weeks! :)

Yes the curtains are the RH frayed curtains in petal– the blanket is from Stein Mart, the bamboo shades are from Budget Blinds and I am unsure of the color, the blue mirrors are custom painted by me in Annie Sloan paint. I mixed duck egg blue and white together. The blue bird in the frame came from Hobby Lobby,
