Description
I decided to go with a vintage county fair theme for my son's first birthday. I knew it would only be a matter of time before we would have to start having superhero and sports themed parties, so I decided to do something vintage and super cute for his first birthday.
Design Inspiration
I have always loved the book Charlotte's Web. Of course, I couldn't do a Charlotte's Web theme for my son, but when I think of Charlotte's Web, I think of county fairs and blue ribbons. So the idea of recreating a vintage county fair for his party was born. I wanted to go with red and aqua as the main colors because I believe they look vintage and reminded me of a down home county fair.
Decorating Style
I have always leaned toward the vintage and eclectic look when I decorate. I love DIY projects.

Favorite Items
My favorite thing about the party had to be the photo backdrop we made using my grandmother's quilt strung between the two trees in our backyard. We used hay bales for people to sit on and strung our homemade bunting flags across the quilt.
I also loved the old pallet we used to display all of his monthly pictures on. I painted Benjamin is One and strung twine across the pallet. Then I used clothespins to attach his monthly pictures all the way from Just Born to 11 months.
Advice
Don't try to do it all at once. Work a little on it here and there so you won't be overwhelmed trying to make it all the night before.
