As an interior designer, I have been imagining my first child’s nursery for so long and once I found out we were pregnant, I couldn’t wait to start the design. I had so many ideas that I wanted to create, my boyfriend had to reign me in and get me to narrow down all the ideas for the baby’s nursery.
After our gender reveal, we got started right away for our bouncing baby boy. I created my Pinterest board for boy nurseries and went to town on putting together the idea(s). I drew the floor plan in AutoCAD to figure out what furniture would fit and then Photoshop’d my ideas in with the colors and wall decor.
Paint Colors Used:
Walls: Sherwin Williams Blissful Blue
Stripes: Sherwin Williams Indigo Batik [inspiration]
Hexagon Shelves [Interior Colors]: Sherwin Williams Indigo Batik, Pratt & Lambert Early Morn and Glidden Grey Tabby
The Ikea spice racks were an idea I saw in a previous project on here [found via Pinterest] – it’s such a cute and easy idea for baby book shelves – I painted them in a basic Behr ceiling white paint and assembled. These are hung about 12″ apart from the top edge to bottom edge of the next one.
The two (2) custom shelves on the wall were another inspiration I found via Pinterest and had them made at a local shop to me – purchased the Ikea metal brackets and had the two (2) pieces of wood fabricated for a snug fit! These were surprisingly inexpensive for them being custom.
The floor pouf was a great find at HomeGoods alongside the white + gold accented elephant piggy bank and the grey + silver elephant hamper. The gold elephants and giraffes on the top shelf were a part of my beautiful baby shower my friends threw for us – I’m not sure where they were purchased from but they were a part of the decor we thought we could integrate into the nursery’s design. The crocheted elephant on the hexagon shelves was a baby shower gift from my cousin – it’s the cutest thing ever!
We still have a lot more designing and adding to go but this is just the start. Clark was born on 07.14.17 so there will be plenty more memories and decor to add as he grows!
