Vintage Industrial Nursery

Description

I was so excited when I found out I was pregnant! I couldn't wait to start the Nursery. When we found out we were having a girl... I knew exactly what I wanted. Something she can grow into!

Design Inspiration

I love Restoration Hardware's style. That kind of twist on french, industrial. I love textures and mixing different materials. I'm not a super girly kind of person. I like themes but not a super matchy match type.  I wanted a room she could grow with. That didn't limit her creativity. Something neutral yet very stimulating with lots of texture!

Decorating Style

I love to mix the old with new. I don't know if I have a specific style. I like all types of design and style. I just pull it all together and put my spin on it.  I love words, Fonts, type, printing etc... I love how it can play off of the traditional ABC's. it all played out well with the vintage style of the room. Something I've loved since I was a kid are stars. They mean so many different things. I adore the nautical star. I have one in every room of the house which helps to tie everything together.

Project Details

My husband and I started with painting the walls. We used Creek Bend colored Behr Paint. It's a really warm dark gray. I love how it pops against the white trim and paneling.

All the furniture in the room was our oldest daughters. I love that Ellie can use it too. I painted all the pieces a high gloss white to contrast a bit from the semi gloss paneling. All the hardware is Aged Bronze. In fact all the metal in the room is aged bronze.

The Curtains are Burlap from World Market. All the Picture frames were painted and aged. We put pictures of our family leading up to Ellie's arrival.

It really is the details that make the room. The banner on her Crib was made by one of my best Friends for the Baby Shower. I used the left over fabric to hang as poms in the room. The rest of the poms are Tulle, tissue and there are some newspaper/old book pages made into poms as well. I hung throughout the poms antique stars. I loved the idea of this grand structure above her bed instead of the traditional mobile.

The rest of the details are as follows...

I love her Crib! The whole thing... From bedding to pom poms... to the Banner that was made with love!

Advice

Don't go with the usual! The baby won't even remember what her room looked like. What is your style and how can you spin a theme? I adore her room! I'd swap my bed for her crib any day!

"Be your own kind of beautiful." Awww, that's such a wonderful reminder! I wouldn't mind waking up to that sign every single day.
