Brooklyn’s Chic Nursery

Description

Glam shabby chic nursery for our daughter

Design Inspiration

My home decor style is gender neutral so I took advantage of the ability to go all out girly on this nursery.  I wanted something sophisticated and ultra feminine that my little princess could grow into.

Decorating Style

Shabby chic meets modern glam.

Project Details

This room began as a Den/Office and was orignally carpet with neutral tan walls and dark red accents.  We picked out a distressed black engineered hard wood, wainescoit, and a pale pastel pink for the walls to start the transformation to our little girl's dream room.

I knew I wanted to go with shabby chic white furniture with crystal knobs.  I ended up finding both dressers at a shabby chic store near my home.  One came with crystal pulls, and the other I swapped out myself.  I found a wooden rocker at the same store that I set in the corner with an antiqued side table and a small ottoman.

I knew I wanted wall letters but wasn't willing to pay $12/per letter at some of the leading retailers so I did some online research and ended up ordering the raw whimsical letters from a wholesale website.  I then painted them myself, covered them in an ultra fine black glitter, and hung them with light pink polka dot ribbon on crystal anchors.  I highly recommend making the wall letters yourself to create a totally custom project for a fraction of the cost.

The rest of the accents I ended up finding at odd and end stores.  I even found 2 toddler-sized black french side chairs with crystal buttons at a store near my home (not pictured).

Advice

Have your bedding custom made!  Whether you have a friend/family member who is talented enough to make the bedding, or you find someone on Etsy, I highly recommend having the bedding custom made to your style.

Just how much did you pay for that chandelier?  Did you get that with the black cloth wraparound or did you make that yourself?  I must say, this is one classy room!

Love the light fixture most of all. I like the dark floor, but I think it would look better if you added a rug.

    Thanks ladies!

Donna – I found it at BRU.  It’s a ceiling hanging that I opted to us in place of a traditional mobile.

I love this room, if only for the combination of girly girl motifs with a hint of being rough around the edges.  I love how you used ribbons to hang the BROOKLYN letterings, I have not seen that before.
