Bretton’s Blue and Green Circus

Description

We had so much fun decorating the nursery for Bretton and are so happy with the result.  It took about 7 months to get it all done but it was well worth the wait.  There were a lot of DIY projects and those are really what makes the room even more special!

Design Inspiration

Project Nursery and Pinterest inspired me and I incorporated a lot of things seen on each site in our nursery.  The main inspiration was Price's Bright and Modern Circus Nursery that I instantly feel in love with.  I also fell in love with Premier's elephant and giraffe fabric and that's where the design began.

Decorating Style

I was looking to create a room that Bretton wouldn't grow out of too quickly and something other than your run of the mill nursery sets you see in the store.  I definitely feel the style is modern.

Project Details

The paint is peek a boo blue by Valspar.  My best friend painted the room for me.  We used flat for the base and semi gloss for the stripes to create the contrast.  The canvas were old paintings that I had that  my husband, my grandmother, and I painted over.  The shelves and cornice board were created by my husband.  The wicker giraffe was a gift from my grandmother and her best friend that has been between the two of them for years.  The basket liners, crib skirt, Bretton banner, and pillow was made by a coworker.  The table was one I already had and painted white, blue and green.  The abc picture was made by my husband.  The pictures of the circus animals I purchased from ebay seller bdrice12 and purchased white picture frames from target and painted them lime green.  The mobile is from etsy seller lsproutcreations.  The quilt is from etsy seller dandelionbabyblanket.  The crib is from Babiesrus.  The armoire and changing table was purchased from a coworker and the glider was a craigslist find.

Favorite Items

I would have to say I love all of the projects that were DIY. The canvas, we had such a good time creating them and it gave me an opportunity to spend some quality time with my grandma.  The shelves that my awesome husband created, I love the Bs.  The cornice board my husband did which I love!  The crib skirt and pillow that my very talented co-worker did for me.  The walls that my best friend painted for me that turned out exactly how I envisioned them.

Advice

Choose the colors first and everything will fall into place from there.

Tasha Cune,

Thank you Tasha! I am all about bold colors and I really hope it helps with Bretton's cognitive development.

I envy your willingness to go bold and daring, especially when it comes to color scheme! This is one very extraordinary room!
