Me and my husband are from California, recently moved to Texas and wanted to bring a sense of our original home into the nursery, especially since the babe to be was conceived while visiting the area of Joshua Tree National Park, ha! I started building upon the theme with my first purchase of the deer skull, and then the cactus wallpaper which I ordered through Spoonflower. Since the wallpaper is so busy, it was important to keep much of the furniture neutral with white wash, and instead, focus on lots of natural textures and bringing in green with plants. Much of the nursery decor was hand crafted by me during my pregnancy: including the felt mobile, the air plant holders, pyrography art, and macrame. All of the furniture were hand-me-downs gifted from family, originally different colors that had to be sanded and white-washed. The three pieces of art I framed and hung were found at local markets, I am obsessed with watercolor!

Not sure if there are still people looking for the rocker but it’s from Ikea; it’s called the Poang rocking chair. This nursery looks modern and just what I had in mind.
