Blue Sky & Tangerine Dreams

Description

It doesn’t get more picture perfect than little Julian’s room. Mom did all the right things to pull off this classic yet updated nursery. From painting the insides of shelves orange to adding bold stripes on an accent wall, we adore everything this soothing baby boy’s room has to offer.

Design Inspiration

Serena and Lily’s “Ben” bedding was our inspiration. it is a fabulous combination of sky blue and tangerine orange with white animal silhouettes.

Decorating Style

A mix of classic and eclectic. I love to mix antiques and ethnic touches with classic pieces.

Project Details

Serena and Lily’s Ben bedding was our inspiration, we loved the color combo!

Instead of doing the walls solid, we decided to stripe one wall to make it interesting. We used Benjamin Moore’s “old pickup blue” which is a really bright, cheerful shade.

We took a white shelf with hooks and painted the inside of the cubbies to match the room, it definitely added interest to the shelf.

I used different resources to make the room more personal-one of my favorites is this monogram pillow from so-bright designs on Etsy. I hand picked the fabric for the “J”. I also used fabric letters from Anthropologie for his monogram on the wall.

I used coordinating Grosgrain ribbon to use as ties for his drapes.

Favorite Items

Outside of the bedding, which is fabulous, I really love the striped wall…it makes the room interesting and unique.

Advice

I think that anything can be inspiration for a room, whether it’s bedding, a piece of art, or even just fabric. Pick something you love and go with it!

    margiejeannern,

I used Acrylic paint from Hobby Lobby (mixed orange and white to get the perfect tangerine). Super inexpensive way to pop color into an all white shelving system!

Such a beautiful and soothing room. The blue is a lovely shade…very calming to the eyes.

I’m sure Julian is going to make it even brighter with his daily memories added to it. :)
