A simple, classic baby shower with black and white toile and touches of pink for the baby girl!

Design Inspiration

The mother-to-be had decorated the nursery using black and white toile fabric which became the inspiration for her shower.

Invitations

We started off introducing the theme of the shower with the custom made invitations I designed. The invitation has a touch of black and white toile along with a simple pink baby carriage to give it a chic look.

Decorations

Guests were welcomed with a custom made wreath on the front door and a welcome table with the guest book. I found a simple, blank sketch book with black cover at Barnes and Noble on clearance. I designed some printables to hot glue to the front cover to decorate. Guests were able to write notes to the mom-to-be offering words of advice or even a note to the new baby for her to see one day.

The serving tables were covered with black tablecloths and white serving dishes were used to carry out the black and white theme. I made a ribbon back drop out of strips of black, pink, and white fabric to add a punch of color to the dessert table backdrop. Custom designed food labels were placed on the tables to identify the food items. A "It's A Girl" banner was placed in front of the dessert table. Fabric rosettes in different fabrics were placed around on the serving tables and welcome table.

Food & Desserts

The food menu included brunch type foods with mini quiches, muffins, fruit salsa, vegetable skewers, deviled eggs, and chicken salad croissants. Guests were offered a selection of pink lemonade, orange juice, water, or coffee to drink.

The dessert table held a few simple desserts – strawberry cupcakes with strawberry buttercream icing, cinnamon bun cake balls, and various cookies. The cupcakes and cake balls were made by me. Family members made the various cookies offered.

Activity

For a creative shower activity we offered guests the opportunity to decorate white onesies or bibs for the new baby girl. Guests were offered a variety of fabrics to choose from. I printed out various animal shapes for inspiration. Guests could use fabric markers to decorate with as well. The finished onesies and bibs were hung on a string with clothespins for others to admire.

Favor

Guests left with a personalized tic-tac shower favor to remember the event by!

Favorite Items

I searched and searched for a guest book to coordinate with the shower theme. I found a black journal at a bookstore and decorated the cover to make a guest book. The guests had plenty of room to write notes to the mother-to-be or to the new baby. After the shower the mother-to-be added pictures from the shower to make a scrapbook.

I really like a black-and-white color scheme. It's really classy and elegant, and it takes away the cluttered look of having too many colors involved.
