Miles’ Big Top Carnival 1st Birthday Party

Description

My mom and I created a carnival themed 1st birthday party for my son, Miles.  We had 10 carnival games for the children (and adults!) to play, a local children's magic show called Shizzle Dizzle performed, balloon sculptures and temporary tattoos were made and put on, a photo booth for pictures, and a Bounce House.  All of our guests enjoyed carnival food (such as corn dogs) under our red and white striped carnival tent, as well as, pretzels, popcorn, cotton candy, and sno cones to snack on.  We had a "Sweets and Treats" table and our guests were encouraged to fill one of the carnival boxes full of candy before they left.  After playing the carnival games, the children were able to choose a prize from our prize table and also a carnival treat box. It was a beautiful day and our family and friends had a wonderful time celebrating our son's 1st birthday together!

Design Inspiration

The carnival was actually my mom's idea...and we went with it completely!  We wanted something that we knew our family and friends would enjoy and have great memories for years to come.  It seemed as though one idea led to another...and another...and so on!  We enjoyed creating this special memory for my son to look back on.

Decorating Style

Creative...fun...unique...and coordinating!  I like when things match and go together!  :)

Project Details

I used the website Etsy for a few things, such as the following: carnival paper materials (as well as shirt transfer images) was from Dimple Prints on Etsy...also my son's #1 crown was made by a store on Etsy called lorisavage.  Some carnival games were handmade and some were bought from Party City.  The ones that were handmade were still "tweaked" a bit to add the coordinating carnival theme that we were doing.  The tent, white chairs and tables were rented by a local rental warehouse called A & B. Favorite Items

It is hard to choose one thing; however, I loved that my husband, myself, and my son, Miles all had coordinating, matching shirts that day.  It was just a little touch that made it that much more special for our little family of three.  :)

Advice

    Ysczabel,

Oh no! I uploaded 70 photos! For some reason, when you click on the arrows to see the other pictures it won’t work! :(

Wish you have pictures of other party details, like the decor perhaps. But your photos of the food/treats look great.

I absolutely love this party theme! It’s bright, very creative and lots of fun for a first birthday party! You can see all the attention to detail Marcie and her mom put in to maintaining a consistent theme throughout the party. There was so much effort put into making it a true carnival experience for all the guests to enjoy. Miles is an absolute doll and is blessed to have such a wonderful family who loves him so much.

I love all of the personal photos, like the month by month ones in the multicolored frames and the cupcake toppers. There are so many things you can do with a carnival theme, I was my DH hadn’t rejected the idea for our son’s bday, he has clown issues, but I’m hoping little man can talk him into it when he is a little older.
