Description
My Big Boy needed to graduate from his green and gray nursery, to something more vibrant and reflective of his age and interests.
Design Inspiration
The jumping off point for the room was the cool Union Jack rug. The red, white and blue color palette emerged naturally from there, but I didn't want it to go too patriotic or nautical, which is often the case with red, white and blue themes. His interests are really Legos and cars, so I wanted to be respectful of that.
Decorating Style
My personal style leans more towards vintage/industrial. I love the soul that these pieces lend a room. I like to mix vintage pieces with clean modern lines and a dash of color, while overall giving a space a sense of calm and serenity. As they say in fashion, "Fashion fades, but style is eternal." So, I try to make my spaces feel timeless by not giving in to trends too much.

Favorite Items
My favorite item in the room is probably the desk. It has nice classic mid-century lines, but also has plenty of storage for homework and projects and was a steal at just $40.
Advice
The room uses a lot of easily available big box items, but vintage details give the space personality and soul.
