We tried to create a nursery that was a little modern, a little vintage, light & airy, with a dash of fun and color. We combined new, modern items with my family pieces. We still want to add a bookcase and a few more art pieces.

Design Inspiration

Our design inspiration was actually another Project Nursery project called "Zoey's Handmade Haven".  We switched it up a bit for a boy.

Decorating Style

I love modern and vintage, especially the combination in the same space.  I also love bold colors and airy, open spaces.

Project Details

We chose a really light paint color called "Barely There" by Muralo.

We wanted a pop of color, so we chose the Dwell Studio Draper Stripe rug in Citrine:

We combined a modern, clean-lined white crib (Babyletto Mercer: with vintage wooden pieces: my grandmother's rocking chair and my grandfather's dresser.

We added art to the room from

A Classic Pooh print by Peter Ellenshaw called "Autumn Leaves":

We made a three print series using the work of Astrid Wielinga:

- Ginny the Giraffe:

- Hippo:

- Zebra:

The little animals over the changing table/dresser were part of a diaper cake I received at my shower.  I couldn't just throw them away and thought they would be great for Ben to look at when he was getting changed.

We used Target Home Basketweave Curtains in grey - the fabric reminds me of an old vintage suit.

We also loved the 3 sprouts storage bins.  We went with the zebra one first.  We might add more later.

Favorite Items

I love having pieces from my grandparents in the room.  It is a little bit of my history in his space.  I also LOVE the rug and the Peter Ellenshaw print.

I love the rug! I want that rug! We have the same lamp, but with a yellow shade, in my son’s nursery. I love how it adds some height to the room.

Love the nursery!! I have the same crib. I am looking to get a crib skirt for it and was wondering where you got yours. Thanks!

I’ll let you in on my little secret. It is a flat twin sheet that I folded to fit! I couldn’t find a skirt that I liked that fit the bed, so I improvised.

I think that this is one of the brightest and simplest rooms I’ve ever come across here on PN. I love what you did with the crib skirt :)

Thanks!! Funny thing, the night before you told me your secret I was going to buy a sheet at Target and try something similar. Now that I know it works I may have to!

Thank you for using my work for your lovely nursery!
