Beau’s Nursery

Description

My husband and I are expecting our first child on June 1st, 2012. This is his nursery!

Design Inspiration

I wanted a space that was very kid-friendly while at the same time soothing and comfortable for mommy to spend hours in as well. I was very inspired by a nautical theme, but also wanted a place that was fun and colorful. Through texture, color, and layout I hoped to provide stimulation for our son for years to come!

Decorating Style

Hmm... maybe modern with a touch of classic and whimsical?

Favorite Items

I think I'd have to say my favorite item is the floor pouf. I was looking for the perfect touch of red (one color I really don't like!) to tie in the nautical theme and I think I found it without going overboard!

And since I can't pick just one  (!) my second is definitely the hand drawing I did of the animal alphabet. I definitely didn't think I was capable of it but in the end I love how it turned out! Having items in a room that really mean something to you provide such a personal touch.

Advice

Make sure your nursery is a place that YOU love. As much as it is for our children, how many of you actually remember your crib bedding and nursery rug?? Don't be afraid to create things on your own either! I think handmade items provide such a personal touch and you might actually be surprised by how easy it is!

I think the oar and the wooden canoe shelf are adorable!
