Description
Blue, white and citrine yellow nursery for baby Matthew, due April 28
Design Inspiration
My maiden name is Byrd, so I tend to incorporate bird motifs in lots of my rooms. I found a beautiful bird fabric from Romo and started from there, incorporating other shades of blue, gray, white and citrine yellow.
Decorating Style
Transitional with lots of pops of color--I am a sucker for patterned pillows and accents! I wanted the nursery to be more unisex than boyish, but mostly wanted it to be comfortable, clean and colorful.
Project Details
Crib--hand me down from Duc Duc; Chest--local purchase; Day Bed--West Elm; Sheepskin Rug--Ikea; Fabrics--Kelly Werstler, ROMO and Kravet; Crib Bedding--Serena & Lily; Moroccan Pouf--Tazi Designs; Glider--Local purchase; Deer mobile--Etsy; Bird Art over crib--Anthropologie; Ikea frames
Favorite Items
The bunny painting, done for me by my mother; a pair of cowboy boots I wore for my first Halloween; and the handmade deer mobile from Etsy--my husband is a hunter so this is a nod to his hobby!
Advice
Start small--find a piece of artwork, textile or something else that inspires you and work from there. I started with 3 fabrics and built the rest around that. That helped me to not get overwhelmed with the amount of decisions that needed to be made to create a cohesive room!

Joanne,
Thank you Joanne! I wish I were crafty enough to sew myself, but alas I am not! I hired a local seamstress to do some pillows and the valances.
