Baby Safari Nursery

Description

We wanted something gender neutral, (waited to find out the sex), that would work with the existing character of our 1925 home.

Design Inspiration

I was at an antique fair and came across two prints of a giraffe and a hippo. I fell in love,  and I had to have them for the nursery.

Decorating Style

Clean lines with a mix of both antique and modern elements.

Project Details

Walls: We have original picture rails throughout the home, and my husband had the idea of painting contrasting colors on each wall. For the paint, we went with Benjamin Moore Aura (low VOC's).

Wall Art: Prints with a Past

Crib & Changing Table: Land of Nod

Moses Basket: Pottery Barn Kids

Moses Basket Stand: Rockers by Richard

White Shelves: Pier 1 Imports

White Baskets: Ikea (my mom made the inserts, and I affixed the black ribbon bows)

Elephant: Design Within Reach

Glider: Hand-me-down from my sister. With my mom's help, I recovered the cushions with black and white polka dot fabric.

Mobile, Name Banner & Crib Skirt: I made them all by hand using felt, ribbon and various fabrics.

Sheet: SheetWorld

Dressers:  These were my husband's from childhood. We painted them white, and added new glass hardware from Lowe's.

Favorite Items

Mobile! I started working on this while I was pregnant. It was fun seeing each animal come to life.

Beautiful nursery! I would love to know the paint color names of the yellow and gray, they go together wonderfully!

Lovely nursery. DIY animal mobile is adorable! And the giraffe and hippo prints are precious.
