Baby M’s Mint and Orange Nursery

Description

Using a mix of things we already had and some new purchases we created a mint and orange nursery. We can't wait to bring our new baby boy home to!

Design Inspiration

The room was inspired by the dinosaur print by Jillian Nickell over the dresser. My husband picked it out when I was only a few weeks pregnant (we would make it work whether it was a boy or girl!) We pulled the mint green and orange tones out of the print and paired them with gray, black and white to keep the room from looking to jarring.

Decorating Style

Our home is a mix of traditional with transitional and hopefully a few quirky pieces scattered around.

Project Details

Going around the room the crib is the Babyletto Scoot model, a gift from my parents. I hand painted the birch trees behind it. The dresser was one that was left in our basement after the previous home-owners moved out, so it was free! My husband repaired some drawers that didn't slide well and I cleaned up the hardware and painted it. I sewed the curtains using Premier Prints Arrow Macon twill in mint. The rug was a discount store find, only $99! Our glider is the BassetBaby Kendall from BuyBuyBaby and was definitely our splurge item, but we are sure we'll spend many hours there.

Favorite Items

My favorite part of the room is probably the dresser. I was so happy with the way it turned out. I never really noticed it in our basement, but giving it a good look and figuring out how to make it work gave us the ability to spend a little more on other items.

Advice

If you're looking to get a similar room I say start shopping early! I started keeping an eye out for things we could use in the nursery when I was only about 16 weeks pregnant. It gave me plenty of time to make frugal choices, decide how to make things work and decide where we could invest some extra cash.
