Baby Maynard’s Fox Nursery

Description

This nursery was a collaboration with my mother-in-law who has a passion for interior design and furniture hunting, my Dad who is an amazing carpenter/handyman, my Mom, and my husband and I who are very excited for our baby boy to join us in July!

We started with the shiplap on the slanted wall. To save some money, my Dad and husband measured and cut plywood into boards and fit to the wall. We decided to keep the nursery bright and painted the walls a calming white (Chantilly Lace by Benjamin Moore). We went with the Pantone color of the year, Serenity, for the ceiling and the interior of the closet.

Our changing table has a fun story. My mother-in-law picked out a mid-century modern dresser and we had it lacquered in gray to match our pottery barn crib. We added the changing topper (also from PB) and will remove it to use later as a dresser. The top 4 drawer pulls are from Anthropologie and are brass fox heads. We went with a fox theme because the baby's middle name is Sly (my Mom's maiden name). The bone and brass drawer pulls for the rest of the drawers are also from Anthropologie.

We changed out the closet doors for a barn door. Actually, it was the top of a farm table. My Dad was able to buy and install the hardware, along with my husband, to transform it into a sliding door for the closet. I love it and think that it gives the room a rustic feel. We added the black sconces to compliment the door.

The roman shades were custom made. A quilted white fabric trimmed in a gray ribbon. We used boat cleats (from Anthropologie) to wrap the curtain cords and prevent a future choking hazard.

My mom and I decided that I would need a very comfy chair for rocking the baby. We did not have much room to work with but found this lovely gray glider with white cording at Target for a very reasonable price. We went with a lambskin throw for added comfort. We found the navy pouf at Leigh Deux.

My sister-in-law took all of the pictures. She is a super-talented photographer.

As a family, we had a blast collaborating on this nursery. Enjoy!
