With a last name Hoots, I couldn’t resist an owl themed nursery. Although I’m not usually crazy about themes, I’m pleased with how it turned out!

Very well put together, and I like your advice about staying out of big box baby stores.  Great murals, tell your friend and mom kudos on the painting and fabric items!  It really makes the room.

I love your nursery! Especially the book sling. You did a wonderful job of combining a more modern feel with childhood whimsy.  May I ask you what paint colour you used on the walls?

Great work and lovely colour combinations.  Did you purchase your fabric for the valence and book sling locally or from the Internet?  Do you know the name of the designer?

Thank you all.  Rweithers – I looked on the paint can – it has the formula, but not the name and I forget!  I was afraid it was going to be too dark, but I like how it turned out with the white contrast of the trees.  SharoniNoni – I found the fabric at Joanns, don’t know who made it.

when yall first painted the walls, did they appear bluish grey?
ive primed a small section then applied my choice of grey.
for some reason it still looks a tad bit blue.
i was wondering if you ran into this problem.
        thanks,
        Lindsey

        lindsey,

I don’t remember this being a problem, although when we first painted I was afraid it would be too dark. There are so many grey shades, which I found a bit overwhelming. I tried to pick a “true” grey and sort of got lucky. I painted my bathroom grey and it had a blue tint like yours, which was good for the bathroom but I didn’t want that for the nursery.

Did your mom freehand the tree mural? It is exactly what I am looking for, but I can’t draw a straight line, so I have to either find a premade stencil or decal.
