Baby G’s Nursery

Description

My simple modern dream nursery. My baby was born in January, and I love spending time in this clean uncluttered space. I was happy to find out that even though it is very simple, it is still functional and suits every need for baby Jake!

Design Inspiration

The Sparrow crib was the starting point.  I had the barn doors behind my guest bed and did not repaint or remodel the room.  I did not want a nursery that looked too "baby".

Decorating Style

Simple, natural & modern.

Project Details

I found an old beat up chair at an antique show.  I loved the shape of it, it reminded me of a chair my niece had as a little girl.  After new fabric and nailheads, I think it ended up being a focal point for the room. I shopped Authentique in Inman Park (the pouf and dresser), Sam Flax for picture frames, Small Animal Prints for pictures, CB2 for the abacus, Oeuf for the crib, IKEA for the rug and cubbies, and Scott's Antique Market for the accessories and locker bins.

Favorite Items

I love the pouf.  I thought it would be just something that looked good, but it has been the most functional piece in the room.  When Jake has an upset tummy, we like to put him on it and rock him.  He loves it!

Advice

I think you should put things in the room that you love, and it will end up being your favorite room.

This is such an amazing room… was it featured on a design program?  It looks so familiar as if it caught my eye before. Love the barn door and the rustic features mixed with modern.

This is my favorite nursery so far!  I absolutely adore it.  I kept loving the photos and then.. the abacus.  It seals the deal.  You have great taste and I’m sure your baby is very happy in his room.

I just fell in love with that abacus, inherently playful and colorful, plus you don’t see that often in a nursery.  Same with the barn door, although I would have opted for a different lighting there.

That barn door and the rattan/wicker chandelier really made this room special.  I think that it’s just fab that you still put in a lot of playful elements in the room even if you didn’t want it to be babyish… most others would just create a room that would look like a grown ups’ room with a crib.
