Orange and Blue Transportation themed room with a little super Grover thrown in.
I wanted something bright, bold and this Vintage orange Tonka Truck I found on Ebay inspired me!
Eclectic, I have a little of everything but it all pulls together so well. I have a little vintage/modern mix going on.
I started with the orange truck off Ebay and just started looking for a transportation themed bedding that fit the theme perfect. Found the bedding on Amazon and feel in love with the modern bold colors. The book shelves were a hand me down from his older brother we just had to paint it the right shade of blue which sets the room. After seeing my boys mistreat their Pottery Barn dresser I decided on a refurbished one that came from my local antique store (Rivial Antiques). The dresser was more of a colonial blue and they had glass knobs so I dry brushed the wall color on to tone it down and put stainless steel knobs on to give it that industrial look. Some of my homemade projects where the bunting over the shelves and window which are circles just folded over the string and sewn on. I also found a simple frame and spray painted it the bright blue and painted and distressed the stars and Letter G to give it a distressed look. I found the lamp and ottoman from Target. Shag rugs came from Homegoods. Mason jars filled with vintage bouncy balls, letter blocks, matchbox cars and Marbles really adds a special touch. The vintage tool box on the top of the shelf and the children's chair were antique finds that were must haves. The wire shelf above changing table was just what I envisioned over the table and found it at my favorite antique store Revival Antiques here in Raleigh. The Super Grover/Grover stuff was recently added. We discovered that Gray loved a Grover I found in a Hallmark. He cooed over it so much I had to add it into the mix and I love he's the perfect shade of blue. Found the Super Grover Alex Ross Poster on Ebay and it makes me smile everytime I see it, it really makes the room.
I love everything in that room, it just meshes so well but if I had to pick it would be a toss up between the gas pump and the Super Grover picture.
Start early as soon as you know the sex if you find out then start looking. Most of the stuff I bought were antiques I found at antique stores, online, and antiques festivals and other items came from Ebay. So you have to be willing to look hard and think outside of the box when you see an item.
