Baby Grant’s Nursery

For a reason unknown to me, this is exactly what I automatically pictured in my head when imagining my son's nursery.  I wanted a soft yet noticeably gray color for the walls with popping black furniture with accents of baby blue and white.  I didn't imagine any characters or theme, just something I thought we would all enjoy for years to come.

Design Inspiration

My inspiration was simply my baby boy.  I knew I wanted a very substantial piece of "artwork" displaying his name.  I also knew I wanted simple furniture and accents thoughout the room that were both pleasing to the eye and very functional.

Decorating Style

I would best describe my decorating style as contemporary mixed with touches of traditional.  I'm not sure if that is the most accurate description - I just go with what I imagine and what I like!

Project Details

Paint - Granite gray made by Better Homes and Garden from Walmart, Crib - Stork Craft Monza II in a black finish purchased on , Glider - Stork Craft Hoop Glider and ottoman in Blue/Light Denim , Bookshelf - Black oak finish three shelf purchased from Walmart, Changing Table - Badger Basket with six baskets, black from Walmart, Wall decals - Purchased from, Rug - White Chenille Hand Woven , Lamp - Walmart,  Bedding - Blue Minky Dot Chenille by Soho Designs  (Includes window valance) , "Grant" Wall Art - Handmade using curtain rods from Target, pictures frames from Walmart, letters and paint from Hobby Lobby, blue stripe background was wrapping paper purchased from Babies-r-us.

Favorite Items

My favorite item in the room is probably "Grant" displayed in picture frames on the wall.  I think it just makes the room so much more than it would be without it.  I also just absolutely love his bedding because it is simple but so soft and embroidered with his name.

My advice is if you don't have a huge budget - it's ok! Just bargain shop around for what you are looking for.  I don't think it looks like most of my stuff was purchased from Walmart and I didn't even know I would find so many items that I like from there, but it all turned out for the best without breaking the bank!

I love all the colors! Do you know what paint color you used on the walls?

I, too, really love the bible verse you used and placed on the wall. Those are such sweet, meaningful words that truly warms the heart. I also like the simple white tree wall decal.

Blue, grey and black... I really love these three colors combined. The result is calm, clean and classy. I also like the bible passage on the wall very very much. It has a really appropriate message and it will serve to always remind your little one how loved and prayed for he is.
