  19. avatar Latoya says:

  21. avatar Kelle says:

    Hi Latoya
Thanks! The colours are Dulux China Doll and Wattyl Chocolate Shake – hope this helps!
    Kelle

  22. avatar Latoya says:

I love this room. I know it’s been a little while, but can you tell me what paint colors were used. I absolutely love the stripes..

  23. avatar Kelle says:

    Hi Jessica

I just looked on the Ada and Darcy site and it looks like they don’t sell the colour I purchased anymore – it was called Vivid Sky Blue.

I managed to do some searching for you and found another retailer that sells it though, here’s the link:

    http://www.zanui.com.au/Pouffe-Moroccan-Vivid-Sky-Blue-6858.html

    Good luck!

  24. avatar Jessica says:

    Hi,

I love your room! I was wondering what color your moraccan pouf is? Is it the sky blue or dark turquoise? I used Michael Miller’s Zoology in Sea fabric for the crib sheet and was wondering if it would match. Thanks!

  25. avatar Kelle says:

    Hi Brit
It’s definitely Dulux China Doll – perhaps its a colour only available in Australia? It’s on the dulux.com.au site.
    Good luck with your nursery!

  26. avatar Brit says:

    Kelle,

Completely random and many months later I’m styling my nursery after yours as well! I’ve searched the dulux site and they don’t have a china doll color. Was it a different brand name matched in dulux paint?

    Thanks!

  27. avatar Kelle says:

    Hi Sarah
If you go to etsy.com and search ‘butterfly mobile’ you will find several different sellers with plenty of different styles of mobiles! I would love to see a photo when it’s finished! My email address is kellehd@me.com

    Hope this helps!

    Kelle

  28. avatar Sarah Burn says:

    Hi Kelle

I’m re-creating your nursery here in England as I absolutely fell in love with what you have done – so beautiful. I’m having difficulty trying to track down the butterfly mobile and even looking on Adairs website (could possibly get a friend to post from Oz) I can’t find it. Do you know of any other companies who are selling it?

    Many thanks

    Sarah

  29. avatar Carolyn Chambers says:

    Hi Kelle,

Your nursery is just stunning! Would you be interested in having your nursery used in a photoshoot? I am looking for a nursery such as this for my new brand of newborn clothing.

    Cheers

    Carolyn.

  32. avatar Kelle says:

  36. avatar Kelle says:

Apologies Maria – Chocolate Shake is a Wattyl paint! China Doll is definitely Dulux:)

  37. avatar Maria says:

    Hi Kelle,

The greatest room!!! I absolutely adore it and i love the colour combination you made for the stripes. I tried to find the dulux chocolate shake and china doll as you mentioned but they did not have it in this brand. Is it possoble that they are from a different paint brand???

  38. avatar Kelle says:

    Hi Alicia
    See response to Liisa above:)
    Thanks!

  39. avatar alicia says:

Hi i love your room i was wondering what color you used for the stripes?

  41. avatar Kelle says:

Aww thanks Natalie! Leaving hospital today -Can’t wait to take him home!

Had a five hour, drug-free labour:) if I can recommend anything it was the Calmbirth course I did (I went to Sarah Whyte at Coomera), I honestly believe that’s what got me through!

I’d love to hear how you go over the next few months, here’s my email address if you like kellehoward@msn.com.

Best of luck – it really is the best gift you can ever get;)

    Kelle

  42. avatar Natalie Hunter says:

    Hi Kelle
Congratulations on the arrival of your little man.. I hope the labour was not too bad! I have finally made a start on the nursery, I bought some fabric and have decieded to make a quilt cover and matching cushion myself.
Goodluck with bub, I hope you are enjoying him

  46. avatar Starlight Juliet says:

Great job! I love almost everything about this room. I’m not a fan of grey for a nursery but these stripes are perfect!

  47. avatar Bee says:

    Just amazing. =)

  48. avatar Kelle says:

That’s fantastic! It’s so exciting when you find out what you are having – it made it seem so much more real! Best of luck:)

  49. avatar Marissa says:

OMG how exciting that is so lovely, how exciting for you. I hope you have a quick and easy labour :)

My little one isn’t due until 15th Feb and we have just found out that we are having a BOY!!

  50. avatar Kelle says:

Me too! Due date is tomorrow so just playing the waiting game now! I’m hoping he’s not going to come late, dying to meet him and getting quite uncomfortable now:( when are you due?

  51. avatar Marissa says:

Thank you so much for all your help. It can be quite daunting when it your first baby :)

  52. avatar Kelle says:

Otherwise the chair was from Abode in Robina Town Centre – they do tend to sell one-off pieces but you could always try them if you don’t like the Matt blatt ones.

I got a sleigh change table (very similar to the style of my cot) on eBay! The store is called babythings3 and they sell brand new change tables! They may even sell other baby items too!

  53. avatar Marissa says:

Sorry I forgot to ask, what did you buy for a change table?

  54. avatar Marissa says:

Thanks Kellie I will check out the website. I’m located in Brisbane :)

  55. avatar Kelle says:

Thanks Marissa! I purchased the chair from a boutique homewares shop in my local shopping centre. However it is a popular style called a French Provincial chair, if you look on google you should be able to find a supplier local to you. Otherwise if you are in Australia like me I know that mattblatt.com.au sell them also.

Hope this helps – happy shopping!!

    Kelle

  56. avatar Marissa says:

Hi Kellie, your room is truly stunning. Where did you purchase the beautiful neural chair from?

  57. avatar Kelle says:

    Hi Natalie

I’m with you on that one – I found it very difficult to find nursery items that weren’t ‘cutesy’ from Australia. I had earlier on decided on plain white linen for the cot and accessorized with cushions to add colour. Once we decided in the colour scheme of blue and yellow (I have since added more yellow since these photos were taken), I kept an eye out everywhere I went for items that would suit the room and also had some meaning.
I literally spent hour after hour on etsy searching for ideas and bits and pieces to dress the room – it was great to support home made products and there are so many good ideas on there! Most of the ‘stores’ are US based, but almost all offer reasonable shipping to AU. I loved waiting for them all to arrive piece by piece. You should be able to find bedding in here also, and the print are to die for.

I hope you enjoy the process, take your time if you can – it took me about three months to put the room together as I didn’t want to just fill it with ‘stuff’!

    Good luck!

  58. avatar Natalie Hunter says:

    Hi Kelle
I am fellow aussie and having all kinds of dramas getting started on my nursery, I havent been able to find any stores stocking gorgeous unusual bedding etc. Did you find any on your travels.. The worst thing about this site is there are so many beautiful ideas that we cant get out here. :)

    Natalie

  59. avatar Tana Nelson says:

I love the driftwood hanging wardrobe, the stripes and butterfly decals + mobile. Very well done!

  60. avatar Kelle says:

Thanks Michelle! The mobile is from Adairs:)

  61. avatar Michele says:

What a beautiful nursery! Can I ask where you purchased the butterfly mobile?

  62. avatar Kelle says:

    Hi Liisa

I think the trick with the stripes to pick two colours that are not too different so they don’t overwhelm the room. We were undergoing a big Reno at the time so we had our painter do the room, but basically he painted the whole room first using Dulux China Doll quarter strength and the following day used painters masking tape to mark of the width if the stripes we wanted (around 25cm for the grey stripes) and then he painted the stripes with Dulux Chocolate Shake.

Top tip – by having a light stripe at both the top and bottom of the wall it seems to make the room seem taller!!

    Hope this helps!

    Kelle :)

  63. avatar Liisa says:

    Hi Kelle-
I absolutely love the stripes and was wondering if you have any tips on how to paint them? Did you do it yourself? What were the paint colors?

  64. avatar Kelle says:

    Hi Vanessa,

Thanks for your lovely comments – I love the stool too – it was originally in our lounge room but fits in perfectly with the nursery too!

The rug was from dealsdirect.com.au it was only $30 including shipping!

Good luck creating your nursery, I’m sure you’ll have as much fun as I did:)

    Kelle

  65. avatar Vanessa says:

Oh, and I forgot to ask where you got the circle rug from? I’ve been searching for one of those too! We obviously have very similar (read, fantastic!) taste :)

  66. avatar Vanessa says:

    I love this room!

So much so in fact that I just bought that gorgeous clear stool! I’ve been searching everywhere for a small side table for a squeezy space next to the feeding chair in bubs’ room and that will fit the bill perfectly!

  67. avatar Kelle says:

Hi Marcela – the shelves are just Lack shelves from Ikea, I love that you can’t see the brackets and they were very easy {for my husband} to put up:)

    Ana – thank you!

    Kelle

  68. avatar Marcela Daniels says:

A beautiful room! I love the driftwood hanging from the shelf. Can you tell me where you obtained the shelves from? I’m having a hard time finding some that will hold any amount of reasonable weight. Thanks.

  69. This room is fantastic!! The paint, the moroccan pouf, the chair! its so perfect. I love LOVE love it!

I would love to feature your room on my blog: http://www.bluebirdkisses.com please let me know if you’re interested at ana@bluebirdkisses.com

Your little baby will LOVE this space!

  70. avatar Kelle says:

Thank you all for your lovely comments!

Belinda – my husband drilled in two bolts at both ends underneath the shelf, and then we attached the driftwood to the bolts using strong fishing line so it is almost invisible:)

    Thanks!

    Kelle

  71. avatar Belinda J says:

This room is absolutely gorgeous and incredibly inspirational! Brilliant creation for your little one! :)
I’m really curious though – how did you hang the driftwood?

  72. What a sweet room. I absolutely love the driftwood clothes rod, the upholstered chair and the pop of colour from the pouffe. You and your baby will be so happy in there!

  73. What a lovely room. Well done. I love the stripes on the wall.
