Baby C Turns One

Description

The Big One

Design Inspiration

Because the first birthday party is largely for the parents and other adults, I decided to forgo a true "theme" and settled on a color scheme instead.  The color palette I chose (inspired by a digital paper pack I purchased from Hello Love Too on Etsy) was Tangerine, Sherbet, Robin's Egg Blue, and Pink.

Project Details

I ordered the adorable paper straws, baker’s twine, and party cups from TomKat Studio’s shop.  All of the paper (invites, thank you notes, banners, tent cards, party circles, etc.) was designed by me and printed at home.  I also made coordinating tissue paper pompoms and pinwheels.  The beautiful floral centerpieces were designed by my long-time best friend, and I loved how they felt so much like Spring.

We served lunch, which consisted of a salad bar with grilled salmon and chicken, pasta salad and assorted bread.  Everyone loved it and it was a conveniently do-ahead menu.  I baked color coordinated cookies and 2 kinds of cupcakes... Chocolate Malt and Banana cupcakes with cream cheese frosting.  The birthday girl had her first cake (and first sugar!) sitting in her vintage high chair that we sanded and painted aqua.  She LOVED the cake and put on quite a show for everyone.  I had high expectations for the cake smash and Baby C did not disappoint!

Favorite Items

I think the highchair would have to be my favorite item.  I was so happy to find it at a thrift shop near my home.  My husband sanded it down and painted it Aqua... hard work for him, but I think it was worth it!  My photographer is taking it to use us a prop for her cake smash shoots.
