Description
A small gathering to celebrate the first year of this wonderful little boys life. It seemed like he had been through so much with surgery to correct a stomach disorder at only 4 weeks of age so we wanted to make the day extra special.
Design Inspiration
Each of our children has a handmade quilt, made them by their grandma. The fabrics from the quilt and a few favourite toys were the inspiration for this party.
Decorating Style

Project Details
DIY bunting - I took colour photocopies of fabrics from his nursery and cut it up to make the bunting and drink bottle labels so that everything matched.
Colored macarons, cake pops and the cake to match the theme.
DIY food all the food at the party was homemade and the recipes are available at http://www.howtocookthat.net
The tree artwork in the background is our 'family tree' made from copies of important documents like marriage certificate, first house plans, kids drawings and old love letters in the background and pictures of things significant to our family in the foreground.
Favorite Items
Definitely the birthday cake, the characters on top are his favorite toys made from fondant, he had a beaming smile when he saw the cake.
But I also love the raspberry liquid spheres and they were a hit with the guests.
Advice
Choose a fabric or item that you like the look and colour of and make everything including the food to match.

Very cute cake. And oh, I love the family tree backdrop. It looks colorful in a Bohemian or artsy kind of way.
