“B” is for Baby Shower

Description

For my summer fun baby shower we kept it fairly simple. No specific theme, just vibrant colors, flower patterns and butterflies to celebrate the bright lil' joy that is almost here.

Design Inspiration

The theme was the bright and fun colors of summer time. We found some party decor at Target by Isabelle de Borchgrave. We took the bright flower patterns and colors and added them into the shower by doing lots of DIY projects. We wanted a very casual but pretty baby shower. I'm not a big fan of the typical pastel colors that are used a lot for all things baby related.  What a perfect event it was!!!

Decorating Style

For this event we wanted to decor to be simple but be consistent throughout the favors, food, decorations, etc. Lots of vibrant colors in celebration of a lil baby girl that is sure to be bright and vibrant herself!

Project Details

As I mentioned we found a party decor line at Target by Isabelle de Borchgrave {http://www.target.com/b/?node=337270011} that was our inspiration for the party. The line offered plates, napkins, table clothes, coasters and trays that we purchased for the shower. We also purchase coordinating silverware and cups at Target in lime green from the summer line they have in store now. Shower DIY projects included:

  • Favors that were simple jelly beans {http://www.jellybelly.com/} in a clear plastic favor bag from Michael's {http://www.michaels.com/art/online/home} with custom tags we designed and stapled to the top of the clear favor bags. The reason for the jelly beans is because we nicknamed out lil' one "Bean" until we found out the sex.
  • We also printed food and drink cards with an ABC theme {i.e. "a" is for apple juice}
  • Made labels on mini water bottles that said "Here's to Reegan, Let's raise our bottles and Cheers"
  • We made clothes pins that said don't say the "b" word for one shower game where guests couldn't say baby or bean
  • For a diaper raffle prize we made a basket with soy milk lotion and created a themed label, as well as a framed ultrasound picture of Reegan saying "Thank you from Reegan, her daddy and mommy too for being here and the diapipoos!"
  • For the cake we simply took a napkin with the flower and color palette we wanted to AJ's Fine Foods Bakery {http://www.ajsfinefoods.com/} and they did a fantastic job of creating a dessert that fit right into the theme...we added butterflies bc there was an oops moment when setting everything out. We also put bright flowers we bought from AJ's in pink and lime green buckets.

Favorite Items

I think my favorite thing was the favors because they were a way to tie in our nickname of "Bean" into the shower in a bright and fun way. I also wanted to thank all my family and friends and was able to do so with the little message on top of the favor "A little something from the baby bean on the way for making this a very special day!"

Advice

I think an easy way to accomplish something like this is to find an inspiration pattern, theme, color that is easy to incorporate into the event. It was easy to do a bright fun baby shower during the summer time when there are lots of colorful party necessities at almost any store.

Also I ALWAYS recommend having a family member or friend you can trust to take good event pictures so you always rememeber your special day. I hired Ashley with Sapphire Eyes Photograhy {http://www.sapphireeyesphotography.com/index2.php#/home/} and couldn't be happier with the pictures she took!!!

I loved the food tent cards. Using the letter and saying to describe the food. Really Cute!

The burst of color is just awesome!  I love the clothespin and the thank you bags most of all, but I love all of the things you did here!

The bags were so much fun to make and my favorite item at the shower other than all the cute clothes and baby supplies of course. :)
