Description
This was a very special room for my client, her son was finally done with his crib and it was time for a big boy bed! We wanted to make this a room that would be suitable for him throughout the years so we decided to go with a queen size bed.
Design Inspiration
We wanted to make an industrial style room that main "theme" was air planes. We wanted it to be imaginative and functional.
Decorating Style
I like bringing in the style of my clients and then taking risks from there.
Project Details
My favourite "do it yourself" that was added to this project was the race car lamp. I found a hollow lucite lamp and added about 75 toy race cars to the base- functional while creating a statement. Another piece of the room that I love are the clipboard frames I found at Target, they look amazing and will showcase any paintings he creates.
Favorite Items
My favourite piece in the room has to be the race car lamp- who wouldn't want one? I also love the wire storage bins that we placed on the wall, these are great storage for all of his favourite bedtime books but also go with the industrial look I was trying to achieve. The trunk night tables were a great addition and really gave the room the "old aviator" style. One of the finishing pieces that really tie together the entire room were the vintage air planes that are suspended from the ceiling, this creates a great mobile and looks excellent with all of the other pieces.
Advice
Simplicity is the way to go and to make sure to hang as much as possible on the wall to keep out of the child's way!
