We went with an intimate party to celebrate Ava's first birthday. I went went a lavender and grey butterfly theme. I really enjoyed being so hands on with this birthday party. A spacial day to be enjoyed with special people.

Project Details

Loved making the invitations! Purchased many of my "extras" on etsy. I got most of my inspiration from looking through the parties on this amazing site. There are so many creative and wonderful mommies (and daddies) out there, sometimes it was hard to rope in all of the things I wanted to do with this party, because I was so inspired.

Favorite Items

I loved making the inviations. I bought the cut cardstock, and hearts, and butterflies on etsy, and assembled them all together, and stamped each invitation. Invitations are so important, because they are the first thing that people see announcing an event, and it sets the tone for the whole party. I really wanted to send the message to our guests that this was a special event. I wanted them to feel special.

The poms were fun and easy to make, giving the party a bit of the whimsical feel.

I had hand cut about 200 butterflies out of lavender, black, and grey cardstock that I wanted to string up every where; but ran out of time, so in a bin they sit. :(

Advice

I would say search this site for inspirations... becuase there are millions and millions of amazing ideas here, and make them your own. Create an inspiration board that you can add to. This will help you so much. And start planning early!
