Candy Stripes

Description

It was totally time for my 5 year old daughter to come out of  the baby look in her bedroom. I decided to paint the wall pink stripes because I love the look and she is such a girly-girl!

Design Inspiration

My inspiration for painting this room was that I wanted to create a space that would "grow with" my daughter as she got older. I felt that I could find different pop colors (such as the turquoise blue that I chose), to switch up the space some if I ever wanted something different and maybe change the bedding vs. having to repaint the whole room.

Decorating Style

I love  designing children's spaces  most of all! And I love modern/contemporary styles.  I am always open to at least try a look to see if it turns out right. There are no rules when it comes to designing. Just give it a shot!

Project Details

I found the paint at Home Depot.  I did all of the painting myself. That was my first time painting stripes on a wall. I think it came out pretty good for a first try! I painted the lighter pink first, taped 8" spaces for the stripes and then painted the darker pink on top;  I found the ruffle bedding at www.companykids.com; the pink and white swirly pillow I found at The Home Goods Store;  the sequence pillow I found at Marshalls; the turqoise throw blanket was at IKEA for $3! That was a great find. The fluffy rug I bought at TJ Maxx in the clearance section. The dresser I painted myself and added the diamond knobs that I got from Target. The top 2 knobs are crystal butterflies that I bought from Pottery Barn Kids. The pink and diamond chair next to the dresser I found at Ross. The curtains and finials both came from Pottery Barn Kids. The art work and frames that are on the collage wall varies. Three of  the frames I bought from IKEA and framed with my daughters art work; The "N" wall letter came from JoAnnes Fabrics; The white frame also came from IKEA and I put fabric inside in place of a photo;  The "Let's Play" Little Girl Stick Figure picture I painted myself on a canvas and hung up. I also let my daughter  paint on a smaller canvas to add to the art work. The other knick-knack findings on the wall I found between the Home Goods Store, Ross and TJ Maxx.

Favorite Items

My favorite things in the room is definitely the striped painting! It came out great! My other favorite thing is the canvas I painted. It was a neat idea, simple and came out very cute!
