Description
August's nursery is an eclectic outdoor-inspired serene adventure-themed room filled with items handmade with love, animals, touches of rock 'n' roll, and beautiful art.
Design Inspiration
I wanted to create a serene environment by bringing elements of nature indoors with a touch of rock 'n' roll. The pops of color weaved throughout the black and white pieces were inspired by the handmade alligator in the crib that was purchased while my husband and I were honeymooning in Mexico.
Decorating Style
I like to mix patterns and textures. I also like to use colors that are not traditionally used together. Inevitably birds are incorporated throughout the rooms in my home. Most importantly I like to create cozy places. I also wanted the room to be functional and needed to think about storage because it is such a small space.

Favorite Items
I love the black and white print quoting John Lennon's song "Beautiful Boy" that says in part "have no fear, the monsters gone, he's on the run, and your daddy's here," paired with a black and white photo of my husband in Glacier National Park. It reminds me of the love my husband has for August, and the important role a father plays in a child's life.
Advice
I'm really frugal so I shop the big-box stores and combine those purchases with items I really love. My other advice is to not use things that are really matchy-matchy to create a unique space.
