Description
Amelia's pink, coral and yellow You Are My Sunshine themed nursery is reminiscent of my own childhood. I found and redid a dresser that matched my dresser from my childhood bedroom and the vintage Golden books are from my own childhood library.

Design Inspiration
From before my first child was born, I knew what my baby girl’s nursery would look like. I wanted it doused in pink and feminine. I wanted something reminiscent of my own childhood and a room that could grow with her.

Amelia’s white Jenny Lind crib was exactly the feminine look I wanted for her room. The frame above her crib is fromIkea, primed and painted white (now they come in white). The crib bedding is by Dwell Studio and what I based the entire color scheme of the room on. I found You Are My Sunshine Prints that perfectly match the bedding from Etsy seller YassisPlace.
Amelia’s chair and ottoman are from Babies R Us. The You Are My Sunshine sign is from Etsy seller rachaelwindemuller and is the perfect centerpiece for my hoop art, using fabric from Fat Quarter Shop.
My mom made that sweet little elephant using a pattern from Etsy seller retromama and fabric from Fat Quarter Shop. My sweet friend Dena crocheted the chevron blanket for Amelia.
he ruffled blackout curtains are from Pottery Barn and I made the floral lamp using a plain lamp from Target (tutorial coming soon). After scouring the internet and stores for the perfect rug, I found her yellow rug online at RugsUSA. It’s actually an outdoor rug but still soft and perfect for the traffic of a kids room.

Favorite Items
Amelia’s stenciled wall and coral chalk paint dresser were the most time consuming pieces of the room and what I love most about the room. I wanted a subtle stencil pattern, so I used white acrylic paint with the cascade pattern from Cutting Edge Stencils. I wasn’t so sure how it would turn out while I was doing it, but I’m in love with it now. Such a fun way to add an accent wall in a room and the color and pattern options are endless! The dresser and nightstand were thrifted and look exactly like what I had in my room as a little girl.
Advice
Start with bedding that you love and build off of it. Hit up thrift stores and find pieces that remind you of your own childhood. Don't be afraid to break out the glue gun or paint brush and add your own special touches to the room.

Wow I'd do anything to be able to hand down a little library of vintage books like that to my daughter! Such a beautiful space. Enjoy this time!
