A sweet and elegant pink and grey nursery designed for our baby girl with personal touches handmade by mommy and daddy.

Design Inspiration

Alexis was our first baby and I knew that if we had a girl, she'd have to have a pink nursery but I really didn't want it overwhelmed with pink. We wanted to design an accent wall and liked the idea of using polka dots (which are decal stickers that peel right off). From there, we just accented the room with pink touches here and there.

Favorite Items

My favorite item in the nursery is the "A" monogram that my husband made. We liked this beautiful wood one sold online but it was expensive and would take several weeks to ship. So, my dear husband went to the art store and bought a piece of really thick foam board, penciled out the "A," used a box cutter to carve out the letter from the board, and then spray painted it pink to match the rest of the nursery. It's an elegant piece and I love that we were able to make it at home ourselves! PS - we also painted the animal art at home as well :)

Advice

Draw inspiration from social media sites like Project Nursery projects, Pinterest boards, and Etsy and then think of ways you can make it your own. The creative DIY projects were a fun way for me and my husband to bond and prepare for our baby girl, especially late in my pregnancy when I wasn't able to do much outside the house. I love that one day, we'll be able to tell her that "mommy and daddy made that for you!"
