AJ’s Nursery

A room our little man can grow into with an eclectic mix of modern and industrial elements.

Design Inspiration

My design inspiration evolved over many months of reading interior design and DIY blogs.  I used Pinterest to keep all my ideas in one place and then edited through them as my vision became reality.  I wanted something that was not too babyish and was unique for our son.  I bought each piece of furniture separately instead of getting a matching set and then brought in industrial touches, mixing metals.  The Alexander Henry 2d Zoo fabric was the inspiration for the quilt and the animal details around the room.  I did not commit to anything with too much of a theme so that the small details can easily be switched out when he gets older.

Favorite Items

Everything we brought into this room is personal and something I fell in love with.  If I didn't love it, I returned it and waited for something I had to have to come along.  My mom made the curtains, crib skirt and quilt.  My dad owns a plumbing and heating company and made the curtain rod out of galvanized pipe.  My grandpa helped me with the board and batten and made the vintage crate style toy box.  The pharmacy floor lamp represents all the pharmacists in the family, my husband, mother-in-law and brother-in-law.  Every single item was hand picked with our little boy in mind!

Add me to the list of those interested in what this paint color is... It looks similar to Benjamin Moore Symphony Blue.

I love AJ 's nursery. It is great in design and utility. I love the world atlas picture and the nautical blue and gray. How beautiful and creative!
