Description
The theme for my son Fritz's nursery is airplanes. The color scheme is navy blue, gray and white with pops of orange.
Design Inspiration
My inspiration came from a paratrooper decoration I bought for my husband from Pottery Barn Kids almost 10 years ago (while he was in the US Army). He was a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne at the time, and I thought it would make a cute and meaningful gift. We used it for a home decor piece wherever we were living, and now it hangs in my son's room. It has a lot of meaning to our family, and thus became the inspiration for the entire nursery...a kind of tribute to my husband.
Decorating Style
I would say I'm transitional, but lately leaning towards modern. I like design that is both fun & functional. Most importantly, I love to mix patterns and textures.

Favorite Items
The metal initial letter shelves from The Land of Nod are definitely my favorite! I spray painted dollar store army men orange to keep with my color scheme and added them to the shelves.
Advice
Reuse things you currently have (add new flaire to old pieces by reupholstering and spray painting) and shop around. There are tons of great resources out there. It's always nice to support local artists, or small shops such as those on etsy.com :)
