Acadian Nest

Description

We wanted a nursery that could convert to a little girl's room. We also wanted a gender neutral room that could be changed slightly to fit her age as she grows.

Design Inspiration

Journal from Urban Outfitters with bird print (used for border on half of the room), recycled wedding decorations, bedding by MiGi "Little Tree" with brown, yellow, green, blue, brown and white.

Decorating Style

Modern eclectic meets recycled/found items

Project Details

Used family furniture, items I made and items found at resale shops and garage sales. Purchased a few items to fill in the gaps. We got a less expensive crib (Sarah Graco Crib  $130) and purchased a used Dultailer glider from Craigslist ($100). The other furniture was my little sister's. Frames and other decorative elements were found through Ebay and at local garage sales. The decals for the family tree were from Amazon.com and I registered for these when I created a baby registry. I also registered for the valences, matching bedding and mobile. I made the brown and orange curtains myself because I could not find what I wanted.

Favorite Items

Family tree, bedding, painted bird border

Advice

Give yourself more than a month to decorate so you can correct mistakes. It's ok to buy used if the things are good quality. Never underestimate the ability to create something.

Pretty little bird-and-nest-themed room. Congrats on your new home and your upcoming little bundle!

I super adore the tree decal with cute little white frames. It looks like a family tree, except that it's really not. I like your DIY curtain, too. Good luck on the baby!
