A Pumpkin Party for a Fall Birthday

Kynlee Mae turned one and her colorful pumpkin party was great way to celebrate her first birthday.

Design Inspiration

Fall!  I have an October birthday and am thrilled that my little girl gets to have a fall birthday, too. When the weather got cooler and there were pumpkins everywhere it was easy to pick a fun theme for my little pumpkin's first birthday party!

Decorating Style

When it comes to kids, I like it colorful, simple and purposeful.  I stuck with a color scheme that worked well together, but was also bright and cheery.  I made sure to use items that worked with the decor but also served a purpose, like the utensil holder.

Project Details

I reused a lot of items from previous parties (platters, utensil holder, etc.). I also used scrap fabric from Kynlee's shirt to create the banner on her high chair (just rip and tie onto twine).  That not only saved money, but helped with the planning, too!

I picked an adorable pumpkin from Miss Kate's Cuttables and created all of the pumpkin paper goodies such as, the invitation, birthday banner, pumpkin cupcake toppers, and favor labels myself.

Friends and family helped to put together Kynlee's outfit including the shirt, bow and tutu skirt.

The pumpkin decorating station was filled with different paint brushes, acrylic paint and mini pumpkins from a local grocery store.

Favorite Items

My favorite item is Kynlee's adorable outfit!  My MIL made the bow and tutu and a sweet, crafty friend made Kynlee's shirt.  The whole combination turned out perfect!

Advice

If you are planning a party...keep it simple!  Pick colors that coordinate and stick to that scheme.  Also, repurpose items from your house or purchase platters and containers that you can use for more than one event.
